This luxury holiday tour highlights the rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes of Jordan. The journey takes in the fantastically preserved classical city of Jerash, the biblical site of Mount Nebo, and Petra, the rock city lost to the world for a millennium and recently classified as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. The shifting sands of Wadi Rum and the curative waters of the Dead Sea complete your exploration of this country.

Itinerary...

Day 1 To Amman: Fly from London to Amman with Royal Jordanian Airlines. Transfer to the Marriott Amman (Kempinski Hotel for 2009) Hotel for 2 nights. (N)

Day 2 Jerash & Amman: Morning tour of the ancient city of Jerash. Afternoon tour of Amman, visiting the citadel and Roman theatre. (B, L, D)

Day 3 To Petra: Travel along the King's Way visiting Madaba, home to a Byzantine mosaic map of the region Mount Nebo from where Moses first viewed the Holy Land and the 12th century Crusader castle of Kerak. Continue to Petra and stay 3 nights at the Marriott Petra Hotel (Beit Zaman for 2009). (B, L, D)

Day 4 Petra: Take a guided tour of Petra, the 'rose-red' city rediscovered by J.L. Burckhardt in 1812. Enter the city through the Siq canyon, which opens out in front of the dramatic Treasury tomb. (B, D)

Day 5 Petra: Morning visit to Little Petra before returning to the main site with your guide or, alternatively, relax at your hotel. Evening visit to 'Petra by Candlelight'. (B, D)

Day 6 To Dead Sea: Morning drive to Wadi Rum for a 4 x 4 excursion into the desert. Afternoon transfer to the Dead Sea. Stay for 2 nights at the Marriott Jordan Valley Resort & Spa (Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea for 2009). (B)

Day 7 Dead Sea: At leisure. Optional morning excursion to the baptism site at Bethany on the banks of the River Jordan (payable locally). (B)

Day 8 To London: Morning transfer to the airport. Fly from Amman to London with Royal Jordanian Airlines. (B)

TOUR + DESERT ADVENTURE, 8 Days / 7 Nights from £1,605
Witness the magnificent desert sunrise and sunset from a stunningly-located private desert camp in Wadi Rum. This beautiful area comprises natural rock bridges, towering sand dunes and dramatic peaks. Traces of ancient civilizations also exist in the many carved inscriptions to be found throughout the Wadi Rum area.
Day 6 To Wadi Rum: Leave the group and transfer to Wadi Rum for a 5-hour jeep tour of the desert valley. Overnight at the camp. (B, L, D)
Day 7 To Dead Sea: Optional sunrise jeep trip (payable locally). Transfer to the Dead Sea and stay overnight at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 8 To London: Morning transfer to the airport. Fly from Amman to London with Royal Jordanian Airlines. (B)
Note: Accommodation and facilities at the camp are very basic - there is no electricity or running water. A portable toilet will be available. The dome tent will include small mattresses and sleeping bags, though you may choose to sleep outside under the stars. Dinner and breakfast can be taken outdoors on the sand or at your traditional Bedouin tent.

TOUR + DEAD SEA, 10 Days / 9 Nights from £1,420
This extension provides an opportunity to stay longer at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar, with time to relax and enjoy the hotel’s extensive facilities. The hotel spa offers renowned Dead Sea salt and mud treatments. Other facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, solarium, sauna, whirlpool and tennis. 
Day 8 Dead Sea: Stay for a further 2 nights at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea. (B)

Day 10 To London: Morning transfer to the airport. Fly from Amman to London with Royal Jordanian Airlines. (B)

TOUR + RED & DEAD SEA, 10 Days / 9 Nights from £1,595
With nits clean, sandy beaches and transparent waters, Aqaba is an ideal location for relaxation, as well as taking part in the various leisure activities, and can be easily combined with a stay at the Dead Sea.
Day 6 To Aqaba: Following your jeep excursion at Wadi Rum, leave the group and transfer by road to Aqaba. Stay 2 nights at the Mövenpick Resort & Residence Aqaba. (B)
