Now one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, The Lost City of Petra in Jordan is becoming one of the places to visit in the Middle East, if not the world. The giant red mountains and vast mausoleums of a
departed race have nothing in common with modern civilization, and ask nothing
of it except to be appreciated at their true value - as one of the greatest
wonders ever wrought by Nature and Man. Petra by Candlelight...
To visit
Petra during daylight is an amazing experience, to return at night and
see it by the light of 1800 ‘lanterns’ (actually brown paper bags half
full of sand with a candle in each) is a truly stunning way to see one
of the ‘New Wonders of The World’.
The walk down through the Siq is one of the most beautiful and evocative 1.2km anywhere in the world. To enhance the atmosphere, the guides ask for mobile phones to be switched off and talking to be kept to a minimum. At the end of the Siq appears one of the most famous sights The Treasury . Lit only by hundreds of candles visitors sit on the sand while local Bedoiuns play their haunting music. A truly magical experience
Petra Kitchen... Now open in Petra, The Petra Kitchen is a delightful way to round off your Jordan travel experiences. Like any home kitchen, the Petra kitchen is a relaxed, informal atmosphere where you'll gather to prepare an evening meal, working alongside local women under the supervision of their chef. Each evening meal includes soup, cold and hot mezza and salads, and a main course-all typical Jordanian dishes. You will get an inside glimpse of the secrets behind the famous regional cuisine of Levant. This excursion is being offered complimentary to Robert Broad Travel clients when booking onto one of these Jordan tours if booked before 31st August 2008 (not valid on the 24th October half term departure).
